Generous Community Donation Funds Rapid Emergency Notification and Response System for Peru Elementary School District #124

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Generous Community Donation Funds Rapid Emergency Notification and Response System for Peru Elementary School District #124.

Peru Elementary School District #124 is pleased to announce enhancements to the District’s security and safety systems with the installation of the Blue Point Rapid Emergency Notification and Response System. School safety is a top priority for the Peru School District and investments in emergency preparedness can make a meaningful difference during critical incidents. Securing funding for a rapid emergency notification and response system was a top priority for the 2026-27 school year.

Thanks to the extremely generous donation from former educator, Peru resident, and member of the Peru Foundation, Christine Uebel, the District was able to move forward with the installation of the Blue Point System. Thanks to her passionate support of the Peru School District and commitment to the safety and security of the students and staff, both Northview and Parkside Schools will now be equipped with the new system that will provide faster coordination between school personnel and local law enforcement and emergency responders during critical situations. The technology is designed to improve alert and notification capabilities with multiple “Police” and “Medical” pull stations located throughout each building as well as multiple mobile pendants utilized by staff. The faster authorities are alerted and students and staff notified, the better we are able to respond during crisis situations.

Jessica Skolek (Board Member), Robert Ankiewicz (Board President), Christine Uebel (Donor), Simon Kampwerth (Vice President), John Atkins (Board Member), Alison Goode (Board Member), and Ryan Linnig (Superintendent)

We are so grateful to have such an amazing community partner in Ms. Uebel and she is a great example of the generous and supporting community that makes Peru School District exceptional. We couldn’t have made this a project a reality so quickly if not for her. My former 8th grade teacher, Mr. Kopina, used to tell us as students, “You don’t have to change the world, just leave your little corner of the world better than you found it.”  It’s reassuring to know that we are blessed with amazing people in our community like Christine who are committed to making our little corner of the world better! - Mr. Ryan Linnig, Superintendent.

On behalf of the students, staff, and Board of Education, we would like to thank Christine for her amazing contribution allowing us to enhance the safety and security of our schools! - Mr. Rob Ankiewicz, Peru School Board President.
